Introducing Allegheny Pale Ale

Drink beer. Save the Point State Park Fountain? Has there ever been a more inviting rallying cry?

Drink beer. Save the Point State Park Fountain. Sounds good to us! Here are the details:

As you may have heard, this beloved Pittsburgh icon is busted. Broken. The batteries are dead. There ain’t no water flowing from this Fountain. It’s kinda sad, frankly. That’s why Riverlife is raising money through the “Friends of the Fountain” campaign to permanently fix and renovate the Fountain. So far we’ve raised over $750,000 because of awesomely generous people like you who have given a little bit of spare change here and there.

Even more awesome is the fact that Pittsburgh’s very own Penn Brewery has a new beer called Allegheny Pale Ale, and they’ve agreed to donate $1 for every case sold to the Friends of the Fountain campaign throughout 2010. You don’t need any more reasons to drink delicious Penn Brewery beer, but here’s one anyway: DOING SO WILL HELP FIX THE POINT STATE PARK FOUNTAIN. Are we clear here? Good.

Keep an eye out for Allegheny Pale Ale, available at distributors throughout the region beginning around Memorial Day 2010. And thanks for supporting the Friends of the Fountain campaign! Now pass the pretzels, please.
