In 1999 a group of Pittsburgh community leaders, business owners, environmentalists and designers created Riverlife to develop a master plan for our city’s most valuable asset: its rivers and their miles of shorelines. Since then, thousands of citizens have weighed in, and Riverlife has become much more. We are keepers of a dream and advocates of an award-winning vision.
We don’t just see three rivers. We see a precious opportunity. An opportunity to transform our three rivers into a dramatic and spectacular urban setting unlike anywhere else in the world.
We see breathtaking views, stunning architecture and miles of waterfront at our fingertips. We see riverfront parks, trails and commercial spaces bustling with activity. We see an icon that people around the world will immediately recognize as the great city of Pittsburgh.
Ultimately, we see Three Rivers Park, an expanse of hundreds of acres along 13 linear miles of waterfront that brings recreation, ecological restoration and economic opportunity back to our waterfronts.
Riverlife is the driving force behind core capital projects currently underway to make this vision a reality. But who’s really at the center of it all? You are. No matter whether you work, play or live along Pittsburgh’s rivers, remember: your city life is Riverlife.
