Kayakers. Joggers. Canoeists. Boaters. Cyclists. Pittsburgh’s riverfront trails and parks draw people from around the globe to experience some of the most breathtaking urban scenery in the world.

It’s not just about recreation. It’s about quality of life. Outdoor urban trails, walkways and public parks encourage people to get outside and be active. The U.S. Surgeon General estimates two-thirds of American adults and nearly one in three children are overweight or obese and calls for communities to become more actively involved in creating healthier environments that improve resident’s access to outdoor recreation. Riverfront trails and greenways provide an inexpensive and accessible exercise option for people living in urban communities.

Riverfront parks and trails are also about building connections. Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers Park now connects residents and visitors to new stadiums, museums, restaurants, housing, businesses and parks. Pedestrian walkways and bike trails can cut down on traffic and pollution by reducing the amount of vehicular road traffic. When fully completed, Three Rivers Park will provide continuous access for tourism and visitors experiencing Pittsburgh’s downtown amenities.
Check out our many partners who will get you out into Three Rivers Park!
